Sonja is passionate about supporting everyone impacted by trauma, abuse, mental health issues and generational patterns, to create
positive change for individuals, families and communities.
Currently studying a Masters In Social Work, Sonja has a Graduate Diploma in Arts Psychotherapy, a Graduate Certificate in
Domestic Violence Responses, and A Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.
With
a plethora of lived experience, professional training and
skill-development, Sonja brings her passion for authentic connection and care with
her creative approaches and insights to her work as a peer support worker, DFV counsellor, arts therapist,
creative workshop facilitator, event co-ordination and space design.
Sonja believes connection to self and others is key for personal and collective
awareness, growth, empowerment and change. By bringing her own lived
experience of family and domestic violence and mental health issues,
with her professional knowledge and training, provides a person-centred,
empathetic, intuitive and genuine approach to support, therapy and advocacy.
Sonja believes in the power of
connection, collaboration and providing safe, therapeutic and
supportive spaces for people in our community.
ART THERAPY & COUNSELLING
Individual
sessions focused on working through generational and current issues,
family trauma, addictions or behaviours and to gain new insights and
awareness and
develop new tools to do the unpacking work.
THERAPEUTIC WORKSHOPS
Accessible and inclusive group workshops that promote social connection, therapeutic art and creative expression.
COMMUNITY EVENTS & ADVOCACY
Coordination
of community and creative workshops and events, markets and music
events to promote community connection, support artisans and sustainable
enterprise, raise awareness around DFV and mental health issues and to
raise funds for Amity Place.
THERAPEUTIC SPACE DESIGNS
Sensory garden design, development and use of safe spaces that promotes calming, healing, and personal well being.
