EVERYONE is welcome here
We support EVERYONE impacted by domestic and family violence, intimate partner violence, sexual abuse and all forms of relational abuse.
Domestic and family violence (DFV), intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual violence (SV) and other forms of relational abuse, is a significant cultural and complex community, health issue and needs to be properly addressed. Amity Place aims to address this complex issue with an intersectional, person-centred, trauma-informed approach without the current biases and blame-game that creates further trauma.
Abuse and violence can happen to anyone in any relationship dynamic regardless of gender, sexual orientation, culture, ability, age, education, status or postcode. The defining commonality of violent and abusive people and those who are victimised stems from childhood and other trauma, that when unaddressed, leads to a further relational trauma and unhealthy dynamics.
To address this, we must have new conversations and awareness of the impacts of individual, family, cultural and intergenerational trauma, and support new pathways to healing and growth as individuals and communities.
lived experience at the centre
At Amity Place, those with a lived experience of domestic and family violence, intimate partner violence or sexual assault are leaders of change. Our combined lived experience, passion for change and individual expertise in counselling, therapeutic modalities and peer support, provides an holistic and intersectional approach to connection, care and creation of hope, healing and change.
Amity Place provides a safe, supportive space for everyone to have
new conversations, build awareness-making and to promote new ways forward for a
better future. The need for positive change in our community and for future generations is paramount, and we all need to come together and be a part of this change.
Let's start here.
